Mary Jane Mucklestone

Mary Jane Mucklestone is a knitwear designer, teacher, and author of six knitting books specializing in stranded colorwork. Her volumes, 200 Fair Isle Motifs and 150 Scandinavian Motifs, sit on thousands of knitter's bookshelves worldwide. Endlessly inspired by traditional knitting, she likes to apply vintage ideas to modern knitwear.

Her latest book, Grand Shetland Adventure Knits, co-authored with her friend, designer Gudrun Johnston, takes the knitter on a trip to Shetland and includes 14 knitting patterns, several essays, and gorgeous photography shot on location in Shetland.

Mary Jane loves to teach, specializing in lively informative classes where history, craft, fashion, and location meet. She's called Maine home for 35 years and is looking forward to cruising down the St Lawrence and around Atlantic Canada and Maine with a crew of fellow knitters!
